Aus Art Day
MAKE RECOGNITION HAPPEN.
MAKE CONNECTION HAPPEN.
MAKE COMMUNITY HAPPEN.
MAKE CULTURE HAPPEN.
MAKE ART HAPPEN.
In 2026, thanks to the ACF, we’re fundraising and inviting art lovers & supporters - in particular those who want the literary arts in regional areas to thrive - to donate to The Story Society Bendigo. Donations over $2 are tax deductible, and supporters get the chance to make a real difference to the work of Australian artists and those who champion them.
Your financial contribution will assist The Story Society to bring diverse and relevant author events to Bendigo, creating a community of engaged and connected readers AND pay them what they’re worth: ASA rates for every author and every moderator.
Thanks for donating to bring stories to Bendigo and provide interesting author events for all.

The Story Society began in Nov 2025, after the Bendigo Writers Festival was postponed for 2026. We wanted to keep authors from across Australia engaged with their readers in Bendigo. Over the last 12 months we have hosted free (or low cost) events for a variety of readers:
Nov 2025 - Kate Mildenhall at The Urban Cellar
March 2026 - assisted with organisation and delivery of the Stella Day Out Bendigo with Dr Debra Dank and Lucy Nelson.
March 2026 - Ellie Marney and Amy Doak at Bendigo Library
April 2026 - Sarah Bailey at Bendigo Library (pictured standing with Cecile Shanahan)
June 2026 - Celebrating pride with Darcy Green, Max Francis, and Amie Kaufman - programmed but ill on the day (pictured seated with Cecile Shanahan)
July 2026 - Wayne Marshall and Michael Winkler at Bendigo Library (pictured - above - with Cecile Shanahan)
September 2026 - Jodi McAlister at Solterra & Vine
September 2026 - Jock Serong at Bendigo Library
We have great plans for 2027 but first we need YOU to help support us to raise funds to PAY authors and moderators what they deserve.
